Mark Shuttleworth wants to take on Mac OS's presentation layer

At the O'Reilly open Source Convention, Mark Shuttleworth emhphasised the need to make Desktop Linux's presentation layer more appealing than Apple's

I personally think that Apple's visuals are boring. Maybe to a former Windows Vista user Apple's graphical presentation is novel & exciting.

But there's nothing to compare in either Apple or Microsoft's offerings that matches the sweet ass eye candy of Compiz-Fusion.

See, with Compiz-Fusion, Linux blows away Apple when it comes to eye candy. But Compiz-Fusion is not normally turned on by default.

I think what Ubuntu and other linux distros need to do is create a default visual presentation that is compelling as the one Mac OS X offers. It can definitely be done.

Of course, Linux has a lot to do in terms of unbrainwashing Mac addicts from all of the Mac propaganda that they've been infused with by their cult leader Steve Jobs.
